FAQ

How does StingMaster work?

StingMaster contains rhubarb extract, which we discovered has a molecule that specifically blocks the pain caused by lionfish venom. How? Well it goes to the same place in the nervous system and prevents the pain-causing toxins in lionfish venom from activating your nerves and sending pain signals to your brain. You can learn more about that here: How it Works

What happens after you get stung by a jellyfish, sea lice or fire coral?

After you get stung by a jellyfish, sea lice or fire coral, you can expect to feel a lot of pain at the site of the sting. Some people experience swelling and blister formation from jellyfish and sea lice depending on the species of jellyfish/how bad the sting was. You can also expect to experience a lot of redness, but mostly a very painful sting! StingMaster blocks the pain caused by these stings within seconds. Thanks to the fast relief, you’ll be able to go back to whatever you were doing and you won’t itch/touch your sting as much, resulting in some reduction in swelling and blister formation.

Why does StingMaster work on so many different stings?

We formulated StingMaster to treat the most painful sting in the ocean: lionfish stings. Once we finished our formula, tested it against lionfish venom and knew that it worked – we let it out into the world for people to try themselves. Surprisingly, we were getting feedback from people that StingMaster seems to work on a variety of stings including (but not limited to) jellyfish, sea lice, and fire coral!

Why hunt lionfish?

Lionfish are an extremely invasive species in the Atlantic and Mediterrannean Sea. They reproduce very quickly and consume basically any fish that are smaller than them – they are terrible for reef biodiversity and ocean health so that’s why people hunt them! The more people hunt lionfish, the more we can control their population and reduce the negative repercussions of their invasion.

Can you eat lionfish?

Yes, you can! As long as you cut off the venomous spines on their back, you can eat lionfish no problem. We have lots of recipes on our blog if you need some cooking inspiration!
